Unnecessary Resiliance
I don't know why most of the solar panel installers are selling batteries, it is a very expensive piece of kit with very little prospect of a payback, and the only benefit is self sufficiency and resilience, but I don't think it justifies the cost.

Flattening Peak Energy Demand
Trials have been happening in the past few months, rewarding reduction in demand at peak period, the last two days were for real. I was rewarded 32p for my effort last week. I wonder how much I would get for the last two days.

Big Torch
In anticipation of losing power, I bought a battery task light, aka torch. I am quite happy with it. I think it may even go well with camping!

Garden Toad
Even though I paid someone for the garden clearance, I still found yet more junk to clear. Whilst I was climbing in and out the woods, I saw a toad!! I was not expecting that!

Brut Force Required 2 - Tile Removal
I was going fill the old shaver socket with a cut up tile, except I don't have a tile cutter or a diamond knife, then it dawns on me, I could just replace two.
Except I did not know what tile removal entails! Brut force! So I chipping it away, literally, and cracked two more as I went along, ended up replacing 4 tiles instead of 2. Knackered!

Snag As You Go
It was lucky that I know each element of the works and snag as we go along, I managed to get the electrician to correct their mistakes before the plasterer comes. It is always good to have a second (or third) pair of eyes.

I got a 2.5mm Allen key to try to take the shelf down, but it was so seized up, I ended up having to yank it off the wall instead.

Disappointing January Sale
I was hoping to get some good deals in January, but they are either out of stock, not available at my location, or worst of all, not on sale! I think this is the result of moving the sale all the way to October for Christmas, rather than the old fashion post Christmas sale. I think it is better to keep the sale to after Christmas, because January is always lull, it can do with some boost.

Ebay Lucky Dip
Other people are also doing their ebay house clearance. So it happens, I found the garage floor paint I wanted, near where I was travelling for work, so I actually got it, slightly cheaper than I would get from the shop.

Transpennine Driving
In the morning, I fought thorough M62 and M60 to get to work. In the evening, I opted for the cross country, in the dark and the rain, to avoid the rush hour motorway. I am not sure it was the right decision, we would never know.

Kitchen Sellers
There are many shops selling kitchens, and they definitely provide different service levels. Some that are good at selling, less so on delivery, some are really not trying very hard to sell a kitchen, not even bother returning with measurement and prices, time wasters. If they cannot even give me a price and sort out an agreement, I will just have to go with someone who is actually selling the product and services...

Freezer Food For the Sick
I was very happy with the selection of my store cupboard and freezer, I fed myself well just with those whilst I was unwell. At the same time, I need to eat down my stored food, so it is always nice to kill multiple birds with one stone.

Freecycle House Clearance
Rather than paying for a house clearance people to not know if they just fly tip all your stuff, I throw everything on freecycle before they go to the bin. It is always better for the stuff to be reused before sending them to landfill. It is always going to be varying success, I am glad to see some of the things going to good homes.
